Do you get disheartened when no one claps for your stories?

I’ve published a number of stories on Medium where no one has clapped or responded, but that’s ok.

Writing has been one of the most liberating activities I’ve recently picked up and something I wish I’d done sooner.

Since the pandemic struck, around a year ago, I found myself with more time to spend on things I actually enjoy, such as reading and working out.

But it’s been writing that has made the most impact on me.

I started off with the aim of getting my thoughts out of my head and onto paper, or the internet.

It wasn’t to impress anyone or seek attention, rather it was an activity solely for self-improvement.

I was writing for myself and no other.

I think it’s important to establish who you are writing for and what’s your purpose, or goal.

Some people are hear to churn out articles and make money and I applaud them for their consistency and also the quality of some of the writing. I aspire to be a better writer and take comfort from reading other people’s work on Medium.

I’ve been fortunate to pick-up some pointers from writers, such as Laura Bongers, and am grateful.
