Don’t be a prisoner to your thoughts

Emotions and thoughts will pass. Don’t let them consume you.

The past 12 months I’ve become more active in undertaking meditation and practicing mindfulness.

I’ve been using Sam Harris ‘Waking Up’ application to track my daily mindfulness minutes and I know it’s helped me find stillness and be grounded.

One of the practices which Sam highlights is to “simply witness what’s appearing”.

Don’t judge or question, rather let your thoughts come and go. Get out of your head.

Emotions and thoughts will pass. Don’t let them consume you.

Mediation and mindfulness have become buzzwords, during the pandemic, as more people have sought guidance and solace from the upheaval in their lives.

There is nothing wrong with seeking help from others. I think it should be championed!

There are many ways to practice mindfulness. For example, you could undertake meditation, as I previously mentioned.

Or you may undertake reading as a practice. This is one I’ve fully embraced, over the past 12 months, as I try to read daily both fiction and non-fiction books.
