Forget about goals and focus on systems. This advice, from James Clear, is something I’ve strongly followed over the past 12months.

His book, Atomic Habits, is one I’ve read and refer back to on a regular basis. It’s regularly listed on people’s book recommendations and most impactful reads. There is a reason for this as what he says works if you apply it in practice.

Since reading his book, I’ve spent more time building what James Clear calls systems and I call rules/rituals into my daily routine.

Below are 5 of the rules and rituals I try to adopt and follow

1. Physical exercise daily

I’ve put this at number one as I think it’s vital people undertake some form of physical exercise daily. This can be anything from a walk to yoga to going to the gym. But my recommendation would be to lift weights!

If the pandemic has taught the world anything, it’s we need to look after our physical wellbeing.

Life can be short and it’s not worth being in poor physical health and having limited capacity to live your life.
