What’s your why?
If you have a why then you have a purpose.
You have identified a reason or reasons for existing and wanting to achieve something with your life, be that finding happiness or fulfilment or something completely different. What’s important is you have a why.
However, sometimes it can be difficult to know what is your why as many can come to question it through self-sabotage and doubt. In her book, ‘The mountain is you’, Brianna Wiest discusses self-sabotage and states many will use it as a coping mechanism. Thus, it’s a method of staying in the slow lane rather than accelerating forward into the fast lane. We become paralysed with self-doubt and ultimately do not achieve our ambitions or goals.
Your mind is a powerful tool which pulls you in all sort of directions, sometimes without your permission or even knowledge. It can cause havoc without you taking necessary action.
Therefore, how can we take control of our thoughts and ultimately get on track to knowing our why and achieving it? There are all sorts of ways to become more mindful or present in your being and it will be different for everyone as to what works and what doesn’t. For me, I’ve found reading and journaling to be powerful mediums to fully appreciate and understand my thoughts. It’s also meant I’ve become more aware of them.
